External Resources and Links

This reading map barely touches the surface of all the directions to which The Master and Margarita directs its reader. The following resources can supplement and compliment information contained within this site.

This is the world atlas of The Master and Margarita reading maps. The creator has compiled seemingly every piece of information and every resource relating to The Master and Margarita in a beautiful website. Although the sheer volume of content can render this site somewhat overwhelming, its comprehensive nature represents an immense benefit to any Bulgakov reader with a few hours to conduct research, or a few minutes to peruse trivia.

This student-created reading map differs from the present map in that it focuses on plot detail and characterization, rather than the relation of the novel to broader contexts. The site appears most useful for readers struggling to comprehend the often difficult prose of Bulgakov. Additionally, the character list represents a thorough and handy tool for keeping all those Russian names (and their variations) straight.

Geared toward students, this web resource provides easily accessible synopses of each chapter of the novel. Although the analysis of each section appears somewhat limited, this site is worth perusing to (broadly) understand  political, social, and religious contexts in which the book was written.

Good Reads-Bulgakov Quotes
A fun resource containing many of the most insightful, amusing, or just plain memorable quotes in Bulgakov's classic novel. Unfortunately, quotations lack any significant explanation.

Wikipedia-Bulgakov Bibliography
This simple list includes brief publication information for Bulgakov's novels and theatrical writings.

Bulgakov Museum
Official website of the Bulgakov Museum which stands at the infamous apartment that plays such a prominent role in the author's classic work. It also houses a massive black cat; the owners claim to have no idea where it came from. The site offers some interesting images of rare Bulgakov artifacts in addition to museum exhibition descriptions.
